10:00 am-12:45 pm
Every morning’s workshop will take place will take place in a charming brownstone, one half block from Central Park West, in a large Victorian living room with high ceilings, fireplace and street view.
In a free and fast-paced atmosphere, you will joyfully but effectively address the basics of creative writing: character, plot, dialogue, voice, and point of view. You will "play on the page," using imagery, dream, and games. You will learn to structure stories using a story road map. You’ll use improvisation to inhabit characters, and experience your own active storytelling.
12:45- 2:00 pm Lunch
2:00pm- 6:00 pm
Sightseeing with a notebook. Your adventures in the city will color your imagination and enliven your senses. You’ll be given a writing assignment each day that you can combine with sightseeing.
7:30pm Dinner
Margaret will offer suggestions of places to eat dinner.
Thanksgiving party the night of the 24th.
